North Star Secret Speyside 2010 10-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A 10-year-old single malt from a secret Speyside distillery bottled by North Star as part of Cask Series 17.

This was distilled November 2010 and bottled October 2021 as a 10-year-old. Matured in a refill Oloroso butt and finished in 2 fresh Oloroso hogsheads that yielded 660 bottles at 43.2%.

Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Stewed apples and pears in sugar-coated pastry.

Palate: Sweet white pepper, peanut butter and bramble jelly.

Finish: Light sherry, perfect wood, big finish.

It’s anyone’s guess as to which distillery this release hails from, with dozens of active distilleries and countless more mothballed or ghost distilleries with spirit still in circulation; there are however a few usual suspects which often bear the “secret Speyside” banner.  

North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel’s favourite independent bottlers.
