A unique blended expression from North Star, the lightest and most elegant of three blends released as a part of Cask Series 21. We have no idea what the distilleries are, or what mean age is, but the fruit compote notes on the palate are simply fantastic, making us think that there must be some older component to this blend… Who can say. Iain’s tasting notes also hit very close to home…. Darrell Lea, anyone?
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: Peach melba & a Flat White
Palate:Â Raspberry liquorice twists
Finish:Â Frosted bon bons & sherbert dip
North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel’s favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies – even when they’re very serious – which are designed to be drunk and shared. Winner of Scottish Whisky Awards’ Best Independent Bottler of the Year the last two years running. Glenrothes in Speyside is a renowned single malt through the distillery’s official bottlings, and while there have been some excellent independent bottlings, they are getting harder to find.
