Braeval was founded in 1973 by Chivas Brothers as the Braes of Glenlivet; changing its name to Braeval in 1994 so as to avoid confusion with The Glenlivet distillery. The distillery has always served as a major source of the malt component in Chivas Regal blends. For this reason it is very rare to see it as a single malt, even in the hands of independent bottlers.
Â
North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel’s favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies – even when they’re very serious – which are designed to be drunk and shared. Winner of Scottish Whisky Awards’ Best Independent Bottler of the Year the last two years running.Â
