This batch is a doozy, at this point in Kilkerran’s life, we think it is starting to truly overtake Springbank in some aspects. I could drink this batch forever.
NOSE: In typical Kilkerran style, there is a citrus element on the nose with notes of lemon and key lime pie, along with touches of toasted rye bread and peat smoke.
PALATE: There are notes of toasted marshmallows and campfire embers immediately on the palate, with hints of vanilla and custard.
FINISH: The smokiness carries through to the finish, along with a mineral note to round off this dram.
Campbeltown’s Glengyle distillery, producer of Kilkerran whisky, has had a tumultous history; over 150 years the distillery has been bought and sold, opened and closed many times. In 2000, however, it once more returned to the family that founded it in 1872, the Mitchell family. Often touted as the sister distillery to Springbank, many whisky lovers have come to appreciate Kilkerran for its own merits; the result being that these days it is as difficult to source as Springbank
