‘’Syrah sourced from Forreston in the Adelaide Hills from the strong 2021 vintage; wild ferment and matured for 24 months in old seasoned French oak. Deep crimson with characters of dark cherry, satsuma plum and blue fruits supported by hints of fine spice, softly spoken cedar tones, dark chocolate, crushed stone and light wafts of hillside herbs. Well-weighted and fruit pure, the oak volume increases gently on the palate, the tannins are tight and fine, and there’s a lovely energy to the wine as it sails across the palate, finishing savoury and pure. 93pts.’’

“After Cuddly Creek bushfire that in 2020 prevented many of us from making premium wine from vineyards in the surrounding area, we were gifted with a ‘textbook’ vintage of 2021. Arguably the best in the last decade or so. Grapes were picked on 9th of April and received a short cold soak, followed by spontaneous fermentation in an open top stainless-steel tank. After 2 weeks a portion of the batch was drained directly into seasoned French oak barrels and the rest was kept on extended maceration for another 4 weeks before being pressed off. Natural malolactic fermentation with no racking over the course of 2 years maturation in barrels. No fining and no filtration. Bottling on 23rd of June 2023 yielded 1200 bottles. 14.5% Alc.” Igor Kucic
