Description

“No longer ‘Aziza’s’ now simply ‘Aziza’ and the tribute to a beautiful grandparent continues. Harkham wines, crafted by Richie Harkham and, of course to keep it (certified) Kosher, a Rabbi winemaker, are in their own realm for uniqueness from the Hunter, and do so with aplomb. Eschewing some of the Hunter’s more traditional winemaking approaches, these wines hum with originality. Zero sulphur here and no additions alongside.

This is bloody delicious. Outside the box, all hazelnut, preserved lemon, sea spray, saline minerality, dried apple, faint ginger, cinnamon, quince paste and gentle lime. It is somewhat expansive and soft in the palate but that core of brine and the fringe of talc- like pucker is sensational amongst the fleshier chardonnay characters. The nutty riffs are strong here, the uplifting zestiness of bright fruit to task, but yes, supple and soft and rich in a way too. A nod in the direction of Jura or perhaps Cossard or Vallette of Burgundy. Utterly delicious. 94pts.”

Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

“Lifted aromatics of butterscotch and buttered popcorn precede the rich palate of stonefruit and peach with licks of dried apricot. Bâtonnage over the 6 months in French oak provides nutty nuance and well-integrated support.
Wild ferment, no fining or filtration, preservative free. ABV 13.2%.”
