Hampden Estate Pagos 2023 Sherry Cask Rum is the latest limited edition offering from the famous Hampden Estate in Jamaica.
Drawing its name from the Spanish word used to describe vineyard plots in the Jerez region, Hampden Estate Pagos is the first rum in the distillery’s history to be entirely aged in sherry casks.
This new version of Hampden Estate Pagos resulted from a partnership with the renowned Bodegas Fundador in Jerez, centered around the idea of fully aging a Hampden rum in prestigious 500-liter sherry casks. After three years, the oloroso-filled casks were emptied to welcome the intensity of Hampden and relocated to the distillery. Pagos’ flavor, aroma, and color palettes are deeply infused with the unique woody notes of sherry. To enhance this undeniable influence, in perfect synergy with Hampden Estate’s high ester level, Pagos has been bottled at 52%.
Hampden Estate was founded in 1753 in the north west of Jamaica (Trelawny Parish). This is the first time that rum has been released under the distilleryâs name. The distillery is renowned for rich, funky rums with high ester counts helped along by lengthy fermentations with wild yeast, no added colour or sugar and exclusively pot still distillation.
