A 1989 vintage single cask from the Glenfarclas distillery, bottled as part of the Family Casks range.
A champion family-owned distillery, the Family Cask series is a showcase of their very best single cask expressions from a range of vintages. This 1989 was matured in sherry butt #13031 before being bottled 28 July 2022 at 52.3%. There are 602 bottles in the outturn, which was part of the Summer 2022 releases.
The Glenfarclas distillery is located in the Speyside region, within the Scottish highlands. Founded in the 1830s, it was purchased by John Grant in 1865. The sixth and fifth generations of the Grant family still run the distillery today and it is often regarded as one of the top two examples of independently-owned distilleries which have survived from the Victorian era (Springbank being the other). Glenfarclas produce a heavy spirit that traditionally works best maturating in ex-sherry oak casks. Their traditional dunnage warehouses keep a constant temperature so their whiskies are uniquely geared towards long, slow maturations.
