Foursquare have been crowned “Rum Producer of the Year” at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2024, an award they won 8 previous times before. ‘Equipoise’ is the 25th release in Foursquare’s acclaimed Exceptional Cask Selection series.
It marks the first time ex-Calvados casks have been introduced as part of the maturation. This molasses based, pot and column still blend lands at 61% ABV, without chill filtration, free from sweeteners and other adjuncts. ‘Equipoise’ was given 99 points by the judges at the 2024 International Wine & Spirits Competition and it will likely be remembered as one of the most coveted Foursquares since the Exceptional Cask Series began
Foursquare distillery, based on Barbados, is set on parish Saint Philip, a former sugarcane plantation that dates back to the 1720s. The distillery was established in 1920, closed in 1987 and was subsequently re-opened in 1995 (with rum production resuming in 1996) by the Seale family.
Richard Seale is the 4th generation of the Seale family to be involved with the brand and is the current owner and master distiller. In keeping with the Barbados style, the rum released by Foursquare is a combination of column and pot distillation. The distillery has recently come into global acclaim; winning Rum Producer of the Year at IWSC repeatedly in recent years (16′, 18′, 19′, 21′).
