Rosso di Montalcino “Canalicchio di Sopra” comes mainly from the vineyards located in the Canalicchio Cru with soil with a strong clayey component, very rich in intermediate elements such as magnesium, iron and manganese. In some years, small percentages may also come from the Montosoli Cru where the presence of galestro guarantees flavor and minerality.

The Rosso di Montalcino Doc 2019 “Canalicchio di Sopra” celebrates in the most immediate and enjoyable version the intensity of a generous vintage. 2019 was a year of great ripening, where the balance of the grapes was guaranteed by a constant and balanced climatic trend, thus creating the prerequisites for great ripening. The purity of the fruit is expressed in a pronounced and explosive way with a surprising youth that recalls the vinosity and the concentration of the vintage. The younger vineyards used for this Rosso di Montalcino together with small selections from the older vineyards have guaranteed this vintage all the exuberance of this wine which joins the freshness and well-balanced acidity in a combination of great pleasure.
‘The 2019 Rosso di Montalcino requires a bit of time to blossom in the glass; yet patience is rewarded, as an air of smoky minerals and peppery herbs slowly evolves into a perfumed display of wild strawberries, rose hips and flowery undergrowth. This is soft and supple, seeming almost fleshy at first, yet it gains harmony through a savory mix of mineral-tinged red berries and spices. A subtle film of fine tannin lingers, yet the mouth waters for more, as this literally buzzes with residual energy while inner florals slowly fade.’ – 91+ points. Eric Guido, Vinous
