Part of us is sad that the texture of this Ben Nevis is revealed by the label, that tropical fruit and malt style being represented in favour of the sometimes dense and oily alter ego.
Official notes read, “Creamy. Wholegrain cereal, malty, gooseberries. Kiwi skin, flint notes, salted caramel, barley sugar & barley drops.”
The Cadenhead’s Original Collection is a newer range from the Cadenhead’s shop, aimed at the export market. If every Cadenhead release was released in their own shops in the UK, then none would be left for the rest of the world! To satiate this growing global demand, The Original Collection was born. Excellent releases, at 46%, usually from larger casks (hogsheads, hurrah!), with that everlasting Cadenhead’s quality.
Cadenhead is Scotland’s oldest independent bottler, having being founded in 1842 as William Cadenhead Limited Wine & Spirit Merchants. It was family owned until it was bought by another family company J&A Mitchell & Co, owners of the Springbank and Glengyle distilleries.
