Rod is back for a very special event – The launch of an Amber Lane x Oak Barrel Exclusive Release!
Amber Lane have a very special place in our hearts here at the Oak Barrel! Not only has Rod Berry, Co-Founder & Cellarmaster at the distillery, become very familiar with our wonderful little tasting room as a long time attendee, but he has also hosted a few events over the last few years as well!
Back in 2022, Rod joined us for an incredible Whisky tasting that included a little bit of blending and brainstorming, as we learned what exactly made Amber Lane so special. And now that we are working together for our first collaborative bottling, its only fit that Rod should join us in the back room once more!
We will be trying several of Amber Lane’s latest and most popular releases, including the Silk Lane, a new release, along with several Single Casks, which we will be experimenting with in the spirit of the distillery, and, most importantly, we will be tasting the Oak Barrel x Amber Lane bottling!
“The Amber Lane Oak Barrel Exclusive Release may not have a witty name, but it more than makes up for it in raw flavour. This bottling is the oldest Amber Lane to be bottled to date, with the spirit taking a journey through a trio of casks before we snagged it. The spirit started its life in ex-McWilliams Apera, before spending time in Virgin French Oak, and then ex-Heaven Hill bourbon casks… A duo that many will be familiar with from the ever popular Silk Road release.
The result? Our favourite Amber Lane bottling ever. Notes of Stonefruit, berry, and plum jams, with a richness on the palate that reminds us of Allens lollies, a common tasting note from Amber Lane, along with raisin, dried apricot, vanilla and nutmeg. The finish is long, and lingers on the palate, with a developed oak spice that doesn’t become overwhelming”
Amber Lane is a whisky distillery based in the Yarramalong Valley on NSW’s Central Coast. It was founded in 2017 by two amateur astronomers and friends, Rod Berry and Phil Townsend. The duo have since committed themselves to crafting excellent spirit and spared no expense in sourcing top quality, large format ex-bourbon barrels (primarily sourced from Heaven Hill), bodega ex-Pedro Ximenez casks & High quality Australian Apera casks. Â
