A single cask expression from the closed Scottish whisky distillery Carsebridge.
Distilled in 8 December 1982, this was matured in a refill sherry butt and bottled 20 July 2017 as a 34-year-old. At cask strength 49.9% the cask yielded 169 bottles.
This expression comes from some of the very last distillate at the distillery, which closed in 1983 during the whisky crisis of that decade.
Originally a malt whisky distillery when it opened in 1799, Carsebridge was one of the distilleries that formed the Distillers Company Limited and became one of Scotland’s biggest. Destined for blends, the distillery ended its life distilling single grain. In was closed in 1983 due to a surplus of whisky stocks although the onsite cooperage continued to operate until 2011.
