The 23-year-old, pinnacle expression of the famous Van Winkle wheated bourbon.
The oldest of the series, this is also the hardest to obtain. The Oak Barrel’s allocations has been less than a bottle a year in recent years.
Bottled at 95.6 proof – 47.8% - it is regularly one of the highest rated bourbons on the market.
The Pappy Van Winkle bourbons name has become synonymous with excellence and exclusivity in the past decade, with Australian allocations notoriously small and hard to attain.
Buffalo Trace tasting notes:
“See a deep amber red. Taste the various hints of caramel, ripe apples, cherries, oak wood and tobacco with a hint of chocolate. This bourbon finishes with a long-lasting and pleasant taste. Starts with a lot of wood flavours but leads to a nice sweet caramel finish.”
