If you’re being responsible by self-and-socially isolating at the moment, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be drinking great wine.
The Oak Barrel’s Wine Specialist Joe Perry has put together a White Wine Survival Pack designed for this unprecedented period in our lives.
He’s chosen six wines covering a range of white wine styles, that are not only incredibly good value for what they are – but excellent bang-for-buck as well.
We’re offering them at $110, or $99 for members (that’s $16.50 per bottle) with free shipping included.
We can send all around Australia, but if you are in the Sydney CBD we can also offer free same day delivery if you order before 11am.
Here’s a few notes from Joe about each of the wines, stay safe and wash your hands.
Please note the Tellurian Heathcote Marsanne Fiano Riesling and has replaced with the Unico Zelo Jade and Jasper Fiano 2019
Chateau de la Gravelle Muscadet Sevre et Maine 2013 (Loire Valley, France)
Wow this is looking incredible after a few years in the cellar, from the Gorges cru of Muscadet. Layers and layers of texture and complexity. This is the ultimate shellfish wine, great lively acidity with ripe green fruits, baked walnut and fresh green herbs.
The Fat Lamb Sauvignon Blanc 2018 (Orange, New South Wales)
A beautiful, aromatic sauvignon blanc from a cooler climate. It's zesty and citrus driven, with a tropical passionfruit and gooseberry nose. There's a refreshing note of freshly cut grass and fresh spices on the palate. One of our go to sauvignon blancs all year round. Great with grilled fish!
Fully Love Pinot Gris 2018 (King Valley, Victoria)
A zippy pinot gris from the King Valley region, like waves of fresh yellow pears, marzipan, and white flowers. Complexity flows through onto the palate with more tropical fruits of guava and mango, whilst keeping great acidity. A go to pinot gris for any time of day, match it up against a variety of cheeses or white meat dishes. These bottles get emptied pretty quick.
Domaine Wachau Federspiel Gruner Veltliner 2018 (Wachau Valley, Austria)
Gruner Veltliner is an extremely underrated variety here in Australia. Domaine Wachau is commonly regarded as one of the top producers for this variety in Austria. Such a unique and interesting nose, think mango, white pepper, green apple, wild herbs, lightining acidity. This a perfect entry into this variety which is sure to intrigue even the toughest wine critic.
Dauvergne Ranvier Luberon 2018 (Rhone Valley, France)
From the Luberon Appellation in southern France, a blend of Rolle and Grenache Blanc. The winemaking methods keep the natural acidity of these varietals, making the wine well balanced with a earthy undertones and flavours of white peach to grapefruit, iris and jasmine. This wine is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, a highly underrated region in we are absolutely in love with!
Unico Zelo Jade and Jasper Fiano 2019 (Riverland, South Australia)
From the energetic and exciting Brendan and Laura Carter, this wine has been an Oak Barrel staple from day 1. One of the finest expressions of Fiano in the country, so much liveliness in this wine. Ripe citrus, green finger lime, tropical fruits of pineapple, guava, and lighting like acidity to carry lots of freshness. Will complement itself, as well as any aromatic and spicy dishes.
