If you’re being responsible by self-and-socially isolating at the moment, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be drinking great wine.
The Oak Barrel’s Wine Specialist Joe Perry has put together a 'To Your Door' Wine Pack designed for this unprecedented period in our lives.
He’s chosen six wines covering a range of styles, that are not only incredibly good value for what they are – but excellent bang-for-buck as well.
We’re offering them at $110, or $99 for members (that’s $16.50 per bottle) with free shipping included.
We can send all around Australia, but if you are in the Sydney CBD we can also offer free same day delivery if you order before 11am.
Here’s a few notes from Joe about each of the wines, stay safe and wash your hands.
Penley Estate Echo Sparkling Pinot Noir (Coonawarra, South Australia)
Bubbles! Delcious sparkling Pinot Noir from our friends at Penley Estate. Think ruby grapefruit, campari, and energetic raspberries. Lovely creamy mouthfeel with great length and elegant tannins. This will easily get the night started, juicy red fruits, this is our go to for rich seafood dishes and tapas boards.
Gunderloch Fritz Riesling 2018 (Rheinhessen, Germany)
German Riesling is an essential for any wine cellar, this little number from Gunderloch Fritz is outstanding! Lime, lemon, mouthwatering acidity, cut green apple, luscious peach. Just a hint of residual sugar to tie this all together. We can't get enough of this, pour a glass next to rich meat dishes, chicken pastas, pretty much anything you like to eat.
Blind Corner Orange 2020 (Margaret River, Western Australia)
One of our best finds this year! Pinot Gris, Sauv Blanc, Semillon & Chenin, blended together on skins them in a rolling wild ferment Tangerine, orange, citrus, nectarine, tasty juice! To please natural wine lovers, and first time orange wine drinkers at the same time.
Chateau L'Eglise 2017 (Bordeaux, France)
Reignite your love with red Bordeaux, this Merlot Cab Sav is perfect for the cooler nights. Distinctly chalky tannins with lucious dark fruits, white pepper, stewed plums, and smokey finish. Steaks, roasts, baked potatoes, this little Franch red will pop out of the glass.
Domaine la Negly Terrasses Rose 2018 (France, Languedoc-Roussillon)
A dry, crisp, uplifting rose from France, just outside of Narbonne. We can talk about the clay/silt soil, but what you need to know is that it’s fruity and fresh on the nose, has a nice round palate and while certainly a dry rose the fruitiness is a welcome visitor to the finish. Vibrant.
Silkwood Bowers Shiraz 2018 (Great Southern, Western Australia)
Spicy, juicy, fruit forward Shiraz from Western Australia! Lots of brooding dark fruits, plums, cherries, green spices, notes of smoke and meat. A full bodied red wine made for every occasion.
