The star of North Star's 22nd Series, an Ardnamurchan aged in first fill Oloroso, this batch is the crossover of two things we love very much at the Oak Barrel, being Ardnamurchan & North Star.  All that rich spirit texture is preserved despite the intensity of the cask, leading to a bold, densely flavoured whisky, with hints of highland smoke!

Nose: Wet Varnish & Red Kola cubes

Palate: Menthol, Aniseed Balls & a Fistful of Liquorice Comforts

Finish: Ponterfract Cake & Caramelised Banana

North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel's favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies - even when they're very serious - which are designed to be drunk and shared. "We chose Arndamurchan, this remote, rugged, highland, west coastal peninsula, we chose it to build a distillery, not because it would be impossible to get to and all that sort of stuff, but most importantly we chose it because of the climate and what it is and what it can do to whisky."
"We’ve built a distillery, we’re trying to make the best possible spirit that we can but everything else we’re handing over to the environment. If I was to copy and paste Ardnamurchan somewhere else in Scotland or somewhere else in the world, you would get a very different whisky. The profile that we are naturally getting out there is a very maritime, very coastal profile."
