A single cask Mannochmore bottled by North Star as part of Cask Series 14.
Founded in 1971, Mannochmore is a relatively young distillery by Scottish standards and is a key producer of whisky for blends by owner Diageo. Often fresh and cereal-forward, rare single malt expressions can also be nutty and foresty.
This was distilled March 2008 and bottled in February 2021 from a refill hogshead. Bottled as a 12-year-old with 299 bottles at 54.5%.
Nose: Barley sugars and fragrant toasted citrus.
Palate: Lemon sherbet sweeties and creamola foam.
Finish: Freshly baked bread with lashings of butter.
North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel's favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies - even when they're very serious - which are designed to be drunk and shared.
