A 10-year-old Lochindaal-grade Bruichladdich bottled by North Star as part of Series 14.
Lochindaal is a peated style from the distillery rarely seen. At new make it is understood to be more peated than Port Charlotte but not as heavily peated as Octomore.
This was distilled December 2010 and bottled from a refill barrel February 2021. At 10-years-old and 52.5% there are 288 bottles.
Nose: Peated grapefuit and oily dark chocolate.
Palate: Toffee apples with sooty notes and whipped cream.
Finish: A very long sweet medicinal smoky finish.
North Star have quickly become one of The Oak Barrel's favourite independent bottlers. Exceptional cask selections at very reasonable prices, they are exciting, fun whiskies - even when they're very serious - which are designed to be drunk and shared.
