After the success of our SOLD OUT natural wine tastings of 2019, we are continuing our 2020 wine event calendar with another night of some of the most dynamic wines available in Australia and abroad.
Natural wine is a term becoming more and more common in the wine world today. From restaurants, bars, and bottle stores across Australia and the rest of the world.
Natural Wine Appreciation is a series of tastings hosted here at the Oak Barrel where will taste a range of 8 different natural wine and discuss the practices and ideologies of the organic and biodynamic wine scene.
The practices involved around this type of winemaking are done in order to respect the earth and vine as much as possible, ditching the use of harmful herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and other harmful chemical both in the vineyard and in the winery.
Whether it be the process of leaving skins in white wines to create orange wine, or using clay pots as ageing vessels to follow ancient traditions, natural winemaking is seeing a grand resurgence and with the help of incredibly talented winemakers across the world, we are seeing a lot of incredible wines hit our shelves.
Winemakers use careful organic and biodynamic techniques to grow their fruit, letting it be as expressive as possible to the terroir. This is carried through into the winemaking where minimal to no additions are made, allowing the most pure sense of flavour from the fruit to shine. This gives us some of the most unique bottles of wine in the world, difficult to be replicated vintage to vintage.
Natural Wine Appreciation at The Oak Barrel is designed to discuss, share, educate the concepts of natural winemaking around the world. We’ll be tasting a range of 8 wines from Australia and the rest of the world. This event is for wine lovers of all knowledge levels and is a relaxed, informal way to come on down and have a chat with some tasty wines.
