The cold winter nights are settling in, meaning it’s the perfect time to launch this year’s winter Rare Breed: Barrel Aged Blended Porter.
A combination of six specialty malts was used to create a rich porter, one that was just right for taking on the flavours of barrel ageing. Rum barrels from Beenleigh Rum Distillery were our chosen vessels for secondary fermentation.
What followed was a painstaking assessment of each barrel, as our brewers trialled each one to determine which ones would make it into the final blend.
The result of this careful blending is a full-bodied, deceptively smooth 9.0% porter that overflows with with chocolate and rum characters.
