The signature Australian single malt whisky from Rutherglen's Morris.
This has been matured in shaved and toasted ex-wine casks before finished in ex-muscat casks. The muscat casks are at the heart of the Morris name, with the company being a leading name in Australian fortified wine since their inception in 1859.
Bottled at 40% in 700ml bottles, the Signature is a delocious and moreish single malt, that is a very accomplished upon release.
Oak Barrel tasting notes:
"A jammy and marzipan nose that has undertones of vanilla and golden syrup. Prominent influence from the cask. Leads into caramels on the palate - particularly Jersey caramels - which is nice and chewy. Feels more structured and weighty than 40%. Finish is short-to-medium, more of those caramels, very moreish."
Official tasting note:
"Wonderfully well-rounded balancing sweet, floral and biscuit aromas with the richness and warmth of caramel, marzipan and dark-berry flavours."
The Morris family winery was established in 1859 in Rutherglen, and is now part of Casella Family Brands. Utilising a hybrid copper still built in the 1930s and installed into the winery in 1941. The modern distillery was built around this still in 2016 with consultation from the late Dr Jim Swam and Master Distiller John McDougall.
The first whiskies launched to market in July 2021.
