The Muscat Cask Australian single malt whisky from Rutherglen's Morris.
This has been matured in shaved and toasted ex-wine casks before finished in ex-muscat casks, the difference between the signature is that these are particularly old and soaked barrels. The muscat casks are at the heart of the Morris name, with the company being a leading name in Australian fortified wine since their inception in 1859.
Bottled at 46% in 700ml bottles, Muscat Barrels is a cask-driven whisky of big fortified sweetness.
Oak Barrel tasting notes:
"Oak char, dried fruits and spice. Fruit and nut chocolate. After time in the glass caramel and fudge. Stewed fruit and tannin on the palate, which is oily and mouth-coating. Hint of ground coffee beans on the finish."
Official tasting note:
"Creamy mouthfeel packed full of rich dark fruits and sweet malt notes, which give way to sweet vanilla and cocoa interspersed with cinnamon spice."
