A peated single malt Islay whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery bottled under the Mac-Talla label from Morrison.
"Mac-Talla" trasnlates to "echo" in Scottish Gaelic and the 46% Terra expression (meaning "earth") presents a fresh smokiness.
Matured in American oak, non-chill filtered and no added colour.
Oak Barrel Thoughts:
They're not wrong in calling this "classic" Islay and this nose is reminiscent of standing by the shore. A precise, straight line of smoke with crisp citrus and salty coastal aromas. Touch of cured meats as well. What you see on the nose is what you get on the palate, lively and gleaming with a clean, rounded (almost creamy) finish. Very enjoyable and a great cruncher for Islay cravings.
Official Tasting Notes:
Nose: Citrus notes, smoky barley and fresh sea air.
Palate: Clean woodsmoke, salty sea spray and a crisp, clean smoky finish. An absolute delight for any classic Islay whisky enthusiast.
Morrison is a well-established house in Scotch whisky and are home to the Carn Mor single cask series, Mac-Talla Islay single malt, Old Perth sherry-cask blended malt and Bruadar whisky liqueur.
