The inaugural release in Ledaig's (peated variant of Tobermory) new Sinclair Series. This single malt is initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in Spanish Rioja casks and bottled at 46.3% abv. As with all of Tobermory's releases this whisky is non-chill filtered and natural colour.

The Sinclair Series pays tribute to Tobermory's founder, John Sinclair, a visionary who founded this iconic Mull distillery decades before most distilleries emerged in Scotland. This inaugural release takes further inspiration from an unfortunate Spanish galleon which sank off the coast of Tobermory more than 400 years ago.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Notes of Turkish delight and rose petals balanced with candied fruits and grapes followed by rich leather and a beautiful peppery spice. A hint of chocolate comes through at the back.

Palate: Creamy mouthfeel packed full of almonds, barley and sweet malt with notes of peppery Ledaig, which give way to black raspberries, sweet vanilla and cocoa interspersed with cinnamon spice and hints of freshly cut grass.

Finish: Lingering smoky finish with red fruit and sea spray.

Ledaig is renowned for its dirty, industrial peat reminiscent of coal fires but with an underlying sweetness. Ledaig is the peated line of the Tobermory distillery, located on the Isle Of Mull. The distillery has traditionally distilled peated and unpeated whiskies in a 50/50 split. The heavily peated spirit released under Ledaig, a former name of the distillery.
