A smoky, coastal 12-year-old Ledaig released by independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail.
Ledaig is the name given to peated whisky distilled at the Tobermory distillery on the Isle Of Mull. The distillery distills 50/50 peated and un-peated malt, with the un-peated production released under the Tobermory name.
Nose: Peat smoke opens to reveal notes of maple cured meat, toffee, and baked apples. Seaside grass aromas linger and finish in a gentle briney edge.
Palate: Stewed fruits, sultanas and currants with milk chocolate flavours combine with crème brûlée. Sweet toffee is complemented by bursts of citrus and a smouldering bonfire ember edge.
Finish: Long, with nuances of peat smoke and charred oak.
This expression is part of Gordon & MacPhail’s Discovery series, which showcases classic whisky styles under the sherry cask, bourbon cask and smoky banners. Gordon & MacPhail is one of Scotland’s oldest and most respected independent bottlers and have one of the broadest and deepest collections of maturing Scotch whisky.
