Lagavulin distillery, based on the south coast of Islay, Scotland, has won the hearts of whisky drinkers all over the world, with its complex mix of dark fruits, Lapsang Souchon, lanolin, heapings of smoke, seashore and ozone. Indeed, it has become so popular that we are now experiencing national shortages of their flagship 16-Year-Old single malt. This makes it as good a time as any to try the newest addition to the Lagavulin family; the 8-Year-Old single malt.
Launced in 2017, this release pays tribute to Britain's most esteemed Victorian whisky writer, Alfred Barnard, who upon visiting the distillery in 1887 and being presented with an 8-year-old Lagauvlin, described it as "exceptionally fine".
