We're Looking For A Casual Worker To Join Our Team!

One of Sydney’s oldest and best-loved destination bottled stores is on the hunt for a new team member to join our team and work across our extensive wine, spirits, beer and sake ranges!

We’re looking for a retail gun to educate and help our customers discover their next favourite tipple while carrying out regular bottle-store duties and day-to-day retail maintenance. A love of wine, whisky and beer is required, knowledge of our selection we can help you along the way.

In the current climate the retail role involves as much packing and sending deliveries out to customers all around the country as it does making sure the shelves look excellent.

This is a casual position. We operate on a rotating roster; hours will include night shifts and some Saturdays (however, we’re closed on Sunday and most Public Holidays).

Specialists in wine, beer, whisky and other spirits, The Oak Barrel was named ALIA Bottle Store Of The Year in 2016, 2017 and 2019, beating out major chain stores across Australia. We were the Single Outlet Retailer Of The Year at the 2019 Australian Icons Of Whisky Awards. As well as a huge selection of products and expert staff, The Oak Barrel hosts regular tasting events and flagship Fairs across all departments. 

You will be providing these skills to the business (including but not limited to):

  • Typical retail bottle shop duties including stocking 
  • Helping customers at the till and on the floor
  • Working with the e-commerce team to dispatch orders promptly and safely around the country
  • Helping with our tasting events, including set-up and pack-down
  • Ability to grow with the business
  • RSA certificate required
  • We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills who is reliable, diligent and have a professional and friendly manner.
  • Above all you must be a good all-rounder and able to work independently within a small team.

Pay rates in accordance with the General Retail Award.

Due to the nature of this position you need to have an excellent knowledge of English both written and oral.
