A 10-year-old Blair Athol from James Eadie's "Single Cask" series.

This was distilled 17 November 2009 and matured in re-charred hogshead #307362. It was bottled 2020 at 56.2%, the barrel yielding 317 bottles.

While Blair Athol often gets the sherry cask treatment in the hands of indie bottlers, this is a more naked expression of the spirit character.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Hot milk on rice bubbles, porridge and tinned fruit syrup. Lemon zest on vanilla custard. Lime jelly.

Palate: Frostie flakes and tinned pears, clear honey and condensed milk.

Finish: Once the cereal areas dissipate from the palate, zingy citrus holds on with a delicate timber note that's clean as a whistle.

James Eadie is an independent bottler that takes the name of a 160-year-old brand, named after the famed brewer of the same name. Born 1827, Eadie was perhaps best known for his self-made brewery but also released a brand of blended Scotch, under the Trade Mark “X” brand.

Over 110 years after his death in 1904, Rupert Patrick – a great-grandson of Eadie – has brought the name back with the blend but also a single malt, single cask bottling arm. Patrick had worked form Macleod Distillers, Beam Suntory and Diageo before stepping out on his own and is recognised as a Keeper of the Quaich.
