Infrequent Flyers is part of the Alistair Walker Whisky Company, which was established in 2018. Walker, son of Billy Walker (GlenDronach/BenRiach-now-GlenAllachie), has over two decades of working around Scotch whisky in various capacities.

The name Infrequent Flyers refers to the cask selection process and Alistair’s penchant for discovering and introducing excellent single casks from distilleries not often experienced as single malts. These includes malts earmarked for blended and sometimes owned by bigger companies who have not released them regularly or consistently to the market.

The Bowmore distillery is claimed to have started operating in 1779, making it, officially, the oldest running distillery on Islay. Bowmore is based in the middle of Islay, and it is here that their No. 1 Vaults is located; situated below the level of Loch Indaal, it has the ideal cool, damp microclimate for extended maturation. Further, the distillery is one of the very few to have retained their in house floor maltings, constituting 40% of their total needs. Their spirit is renowned for its malty, tropical fruit notes accompanied by gentle, saline, floral smoke.
