A notoriously rare, single-cask limited-edition, blended whisky produced at the Chichibu distillery for The Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo. This private bottling yielded only 240 bottles at 58% abv.
Chichibu and Ichiro Malt’s are behind some of the most exciting releases of Japanese whisky since the distillery was founded in 2007. Located in Chichibu in the Saitama prefecture was founded by Ichiro Akuto, who’s garnered a reputation as the “rockstar” of Japanese whisky.
Creating exceptional young single malts and world blended whiskies, their first 10-year-old single malt was released in 2020. Demand has long out-stripped supply from the small distillery and in 2015 Ichiro began setting up a second distillery, Chichibu #2, two minutes from the original one but five times the size. The new distillery is expected to produce a more robust style of spirit.
