Fire & Cane is the fourth release in Glenfiddich's Experimental Series of whiskies, a lightly smoky whisky finished in ex-rum casks.
Glenfiddich has distilled a small amount of peated whisky through their stills and in the combination with the rum casks this is a whisky both gently smoky and sweet.
It follows Project XX, IPA Experiment and Winter Storm in the Experimental Series.
Nose: Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.
Palate: Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.
Finish: Lingering smokiness and sweetness
Founded in 1886, Glenfiddich is the world's most popular single malt - and has the size to prove it. One of Scotland's biggest malt distilleries by annual output, a planned expansion - approved in 2015 and due to be completed in 2020 - will significantly increase it again.
Glenfiddich produces a heavy new make from its small stills, which have remained the same shape since 1886, but an early cut point gives the whisky a delicate refinement which helps with the floral note seen on their younger expressions.
