'A great vineyard, in a great vintage, from one of my favourite producers. Now as to whether 2016 is ‘better’ than 2013, is hard to say. In some respects, stylistically, I’m a bit of a 2013 man, but still.
It’s floral, but firm, a pretty and seductive nature with a backbone of cold steel. Red fruit, sweet spices, mint and liquorice, thyme and lavender, and a subtle sweet earthiness. Finesse with flavour, a heap of ‘mineral’ stuff, coated with pliant brick dust tannin, the feel of and taste of raw almonds, and a very long precise finish. This will take plenty of time to reveal itself and, indeed, it’s almost going backwards as it sits in the glass. It’s a beautiful wine of energy and structure that’s sure to thrill with bottle age.' - 97+ points. Gary Walsh, Wine Front
