A rich 8-year-old single malt that has been finished in sherry casks.
Sourced from an undisclosed distillery by the team from Atom Brands (also behind Boutique-y), this has been bottled at 47.8%. A quick-blast of a finish, this spent three months in first-fill sherry casks of quarter cask (80 litres) and smaller size.
Oak Barrel tasting notes:
It's a sweet, bright nose with obvious sherry influence, but the malt is present as well. It's rounded, but quite muscular if it'syour first of the night - the almost 48% mark is very welcome. Dates and golden syrup dumplings with time.
Palate shows treacle-drenched spices, chewy caramels, into a finish promoted by popping candy spice and thick dollops of treacle.
