The latest in Corowa's single barrel series is an American oak ex-wine cask, a big, full-flavoured whisky with a core line of sweetness.
This was distilled 13 July 2017 and bottled 14 February 2020, cask #194 was bottled at 69.1% with just 160 individually numbered bottles in the run.
It's a big whisky, but the alcohol is well balanced with the intensity of the cask.
Nose: Stewed fruit with honey caramel and notes of allspice.
Palate: Balanced bitter chocolate with cereal sweetness.
Finish: Medium with some lingering Christmas cake.
Located on the NSW side of the Victorian border, Corowa distilling is an extension of the Druce family's chocolate business in Junee. Having agreed to acquire an old flour mill from the council for the princely sum of $1, major renovations were untaken to turn the site into a functioning distillery and tourist destination.
