A 9-year-old rum distilled at a secret Maritius distillery and bottled by French rum company Compagnie des Indes.
This was distilled December 2010 and bottled September 2020. A single cask, it is bottled at 42% with 455 bottles in the outturn.
Nose: Like a lovely stroll through spice stalls. Black pepper, cumin, rice, starchy notes but also some sweetness with salted caramel aromas.
Mouth: Well-rounded and fruity. It then develops aromas of red berries (strawberries, gooseberries), then evolves to pure cane juice thus evoking its raw material.
Finish: Surprisingly, despite being nice and easy to begin with, it has quite a bitter finish, giving it a delicious balance.
Compagnie des Indes bottle single cask and blend rums from all around the world. They are inspired by the East Indai Company and simillarly search the world for rums and bring them to Europe for bottling.
