Château la Négly is a highly rated Languedoc estate that can trace its roots back to 1773. Until the Gallo Roman period it was in fact an island and its clay/silt terroir and proximity to the sea results in distinctive and delicious styles of wine.
The name of the cuvée (Natice) comes from a carnivorous marine mollusc with an umbilical shell that is sometimes found in the soils of the Domaine de La Négly. The fields lie near to the sea, whose cool breezes provide a longer growing season with greater temperature fluctuations between day and night than vineyards further inland.
This, combined with the effect of the strong and dry Tramontane wind from the north, results in rich and powerful wines that maintain great freshness and elegance. At the winery, the wine went through the rose de saignee method, which allows the juice limited contact with the skins. It was vinified on its fine lees for six months in temperature-controlled vats.
The top rosé of the domain, the 2018 Languedoc La Natice rosé is a selection of the top plots. Composition of 70% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault.
Light colored, aromas of white peach, strawberry and lychee. Round flavors of strawberry, red currants, hints of citrus and banana are well balanced with a long finish. Intense and complex and fine acid. This really gives class and is among the top rosé wines in France.
