A 1987 vintage Armagnac from the historic Castaréde house.
This has been sourced from the Bas-Armagnac region, which has a sandy soil thanks to its lower altitude.
This 1987 vintage is a powerful expression, fresh and fruit-driven on the nose. Hints of liquorice as well.
Casterede was founded in 1832 and is the oldest Armagnac trading house still in existence. The house was founded under the reign of Napoleon III and has vintages dating back to the end of the 19th century. The Castarede family was encouraged to get into the trade by Baron Haussmann, Deputy of Nerac at the time. It is now under the stewardship of Florence Castarede.
In modern times Castarede has become known for their wide range of vintage releases, which few other houses can boast.
