Description

A 1971 vintage from Casterede, Armagnac's oldest still-operating house.

This expression is starting to show its age, with dusty oak and earthy notes following the citrus and caramel.

Bottled in 2021 after 50 years in oak.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Nose deep, rich fruit, candied, groundnuts, intense orange peel, almond.

Palate: Rich palate, powerful, slightly warm, full of character and very good length.

Casterede was founded in 1832 and is the oldest Armagnac trading house still in existence. The house was founded under the reign of Napoleon III and has vintages dating back to the end of the 19th century. The Castarede family was encouraged to get into the trade by Baron Haussmann, Deputy of Nerac at the time. It is now under the stewardship of Florence Castarede.

In modern times Castarede has become known for their wide range of vintage releases, which few other houses can boast.
