A robust 10-year-old whisky from the Dufftown distillery and bottled by Cadehead.
Part of the 46% 'Original Collection' series, this was bottled in September 2020. It was initially matured in ex-bourbon casks before finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry.
The Cadenhead tasting panel noted, "Great depth, sweetness and complexity from the mix of both sherry and bourbon casks."
Founded in 1896, Speyside's Dufftown has retained much of its 19th century charm and it remains a small distillery, in terms of floor space. Part of the Diageo stable, it is rearely seen as a single malt outside of the Singleton range.
Nose: Danish pastry, geraniums, toasted oats and caramelised brown sugar.
Palate: Raisin and rum ice cream, fruit loaf, sultanas.
Finish: Slightly tannic, cigar boxes, rock salt.
Cadenhead is Scotland's oldest independent bottler, having being founded in 1842 as William Cadenhead Limited Wine & Spirit Merchants. It was family owned until it was bought by another family company J&A Mitchell & Co, owners of the Springbank and Glengyle distilleries.
