A 2004 vintage from Speyside's Dailuaine distillery, bottled by Cadenhead.
This was matured in two ex-bourbon hogsheads for 14 years before being bottled in 2019 at 46%. There are 696 bottles in this expression.
An excellent but rare distillery, a sulfury new make results in rich, meaty and complex whiskies.
Nose: Pineapple, gooseberries and quite floral with blossom water and freshly baked scones.
Palate: Soft butterscotch; lemon and lime along with butter icing and toasted almonds. Hints of cracked black pepper, strawberries and clotted cream.
Finish: Bigger than expected with beesewax, spearmint and green tea.
Cadenhead is Scotland's oldest independent bottler, having being founded in 1842 as William Cadenhead Limited Wine & Spirit Merchants. It was family owned until it was bought by another family company J&A Mitchell & Co, owners of the Springbank distillery.
