A 27-year-old blended malt whisky dubbed "fruity honey toffee" by the team at independent bottlers Cadenhead - batch one was bottled in 2019.
The Cadenhead Creations range is a series of small batch blends, blended malts and blended grains - made with a maximum of three casks and sometimes as single casks (where the cask was filled with a blend of whisky prior to maturation).
The Creations are a range of ages and strengths, giving the blending team a chance to experiment with flavour the only goal. There is some suggestion that the older blends were infact tinkering creations of former Springbank head distiller Frank McHardy, but given that he didn't write down the distillery names they are named after their flavour profiles.
This whisky was blended together in 2006 and includes whiskies from Aultmore, Braes of Glenlivet, Bruichladdich, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Strathisla, and Tamdhu. The youngest of the whiskies in the blend is 27-years-old and this is bottled at 43.6%
Nose: Very sweet! golden syrup, dried cranberries, honey.
Palate: Mangos, pomegranate, papaya.
Finish: Hints of wood smoke, pineapples, peaches.
Cadenhead is Scotland's oldest independent bottler, having being founded in 1842 as William Cadenhead Limited Wine & Spirit Merchants. It was family owned until it was bought by another family company J&A Mitchell & Co, owners of the Springbank and Glengyle distilleries.
