With a rich history in the Languedoc region spanning over five centuries, Maison Antech specialises excellent quality sparkling wines in a range of styles out of Limoux.

Limoux AOC sits in the Languedoc region, around the town of its namesake, and three styles of sparkling wine are produced: Blanquette de Limoux, Cremant de Limoux, and Blanquette Méthode Ancestrale. Limoux is also considered to be the birthplace of sparkling wine, where the first were produced in 1531!

Maison Antech utilises the Mediterranean influence of the area combined with the freshness from the nearby Pyrenees to form the backbone of their wines. The estate is currently run by Françoise Antech, a sixth generation family member and fervent advocate for social and cultural action in her region. When she isn’t tending to the vineyard, she can be found volunteering with local student organizations, art collectives, and resource groups for people looking to re-enter the workforce.

Françoise works with the key grape of the Limoux region, Mauzac, as well as Chenin Blanc and Chardonnayto produce the cuvees below. All three wines are made using 'Tradtional Method', the same process used the make Champagne with the second fermentation stage occuring in bottle and slow maturation in the cellar (between eighteen months and five years).

The estate also attained the Terra Vitis certification in 2013 to recognise their eco-friendly farming techniques and sustainable methods in grape growing.

The sparkling wines of Maison Antech are beautifully expressive of the region and the estates vineyards. These wines are fine and elegant, each with great texture and depth of fruit. The value is sublime as these wines offer an excellent alternative to Champagne or many other high end sparkling wines.

Maison Antech Cuvee Francoise Blanquette de Limoux Blanc
$39.95 each or $35.96 in any 6

90% Mauzac and 10% Chardonnay. This wine sees 9 months on lees before disgorging. Incredibly fresh and vibrant upon opening, aromas of green apple, white flowers, soft white peach, and a lovely hint of salinity. As the wine opens up there's a little hint of brioche and nuttiness. More apple and pear on the palate also with a silky texture flowing through to a lovely dry finish.

Maison Antech Cuvee Francoise Cremant de Limoux Blanc
$39.95 each or $35.96 in any 6

A blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Mauzac. This wine sees 12 months on lees before disgorging. A lovely rich toastiness on the nose, it's big and open in aroma. Hints of creaminess with a touch of honey and rich citrus. All backed with a salivating acidity. The balance in this wine is exceptional with layers of generous white and yellow fruits. A rounded and bold long finish, this is quite a charming wine.

Maison Antech Cuvee Francoise Cremant de Limoux Rose
$39.95 each or $35.96 in any 6

A blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Mauzac, with the addition of Pinot Noir. The nose immediately eludes to a slightly more savoury expression of rose sparkling, an enticing mix of ruby grapefruit, pink florals, and a light creamy texture. The palate is acid driven and broad bringing the delicate fruit forward along with a fine tannin line that gives this wine great structure. It's utterly moreish on its own but would certainly reward a range of adventurous food parings.
