Direct Import: Dauvergne and Ranvier from the Rhone Valley

Posted by The Wine Doc on 28th Nov 2019

We are incredibly excited to have received our import from the Rhone Valley, showcasing a wide variety of wines from this amazing region.

See the full, just landed, range here!

From the smokey, gamey Cote-Rotie to the delicately refreshing whites of Luberon, and amazing value Cote du Rhone whites and reds, it’s certainly a pleasure to have wines from the Rhone that suit every occasion.

For Dauvergne and Ranvier, the Rhone Valley is their cradle. Each of their wines reinterprets the appellation from which it comes and they are intrinsically linked to the earth. The producer's own stamp is to prefer finesse over power and that carries through the range.

Vins Gourmands, with round tannins, express at best the primary aromas of fruit. They are to be appreciated in their early years.

More concentrated, Grands Vins can be kept for many years.

Finally, Vin Rare wines are only produced in great vintages and then in very small quantities. They are wines of very long ageing capacity.

Guided by taste, the quantities vary from year-to-year and sometimes labels are not produced if certain vintages do not meet the producer's requirements.

Straw yellow in colour with a particularly rich nose that surprises by its amplitude and precision. You will find lots of aroma: Exotic fruits (litchi, mango…), yellow peach and apricot fight for first place on the nose. On the palate this wine associates a round entry with a very pure final palate and plenty of vivacity.

This white Vin Gourmand, is a favourite as an aperitif as it is sufficiently rich to be able to seduce those who are not familiar with the appellation and sufficiently vivacious so as to not cut your appetite.

This wine is a continuous invitation to insouciance. Its airy yellow color, its vivid fragrances which switch from white peach to grapefruit, iris and jasmine, and its lightness on the palate contribute to a complete happiness of drinking. It’s a perfect wine for the aperitif, but it will be fine with fish from the river or, why not, with a tart with fresh goat cheese.
