A Caribbean rum blended from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica and bottled in Scotland.
Black Tot's core Finest Caribbean is a blend of the styles, merging the typical characterists of the countries (Barbados and Guyana's richness and Jamaica's bold dunder). It is not sweetened with added sugar, un-chill filtered and bottled at 46.2% to hold onto the structure and texture.
The name comes from 31 July 1970, when the British navy decided to end the 300-year-old tradition of daily rum rations for sailors. The day is remembered as Black Tot Day.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Tropical breezes of pineapple, melon and a feast of Caribbean sweets. Thick scents of banana fritters, plantain tarts, overripe mango and crème brûlée are lifted by fresh honeysuckle blossom and eucalyptus.
Palate: Rounded and rich, with butter toffee, banana cream, and caramel to start. Gentle cinnamon and allspice build with more fruit – baked apples, pineapple cubes, and dried mango – joined by coffee, dark chocolate, and black pepper.
Finish: Chocolatey coffee fades, leaving roasted bananas and a tingle of anise.
