A single cask whisky bottled by Berry Brothers’ & Rudd from the now-Australian owned lowland distillery Bladnoch.
Distilled 1990, this was bottled 2017 as a 26-year-old.
Wine and spirits merchant Berry Brothers & Rudd is located at 3 St James’ St and has remained family owned since its formation in 1698.
The Lowland distillery was founded in 1817 but has endured a stop-start life, having been mothballed or liquidated at least four times.
Australian businessman David Prior bought Bladnoch in 2015 and with ex-Burns Stewart guru Ian MacMillan on board as Master Distiller, the distillery is running again. It required a major refurbishment, which included the replacement of most of the equipment, including the stills.
Tasting notes from BBR:
This fine lowlander has a beautifully perfumed, soft and yet deep-set fruitiness.
The palate offer lemongrass zest with honey nougat.
This finish is lingering with elegant, soft fruit notes.
