A fantastic 10-year-old from Benriach distillery, matured in a mixture of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks.
Quite a fresh whisky, with lively fruits, it also has a beautiful creamy vanilla which helps build a nice thick mouthfeel.
From the distillery:
Nose: A fresh and lively combination of crisp, green orchard fruits, stem ginger and hints of tangerine mellows to creamy vanilla with a delicate note of mint and a gentle twist of citrus, all held together with a sweet barley back note.
Palate: Warm toasted oak spices flood through green apple skins and dried apricots, ripening to hints of peach and soft banana. Subtle touches of aniseed and lemon zest create a contrasting edge to the fruit and add an intriguing character to the long, crisp barley finish.
The Oak Barrel's Whisky Of The Year 2020 was the BenRiach Cask Strength Batch 2. Because that's sold out, we're offering the BenRiach 10-Year-Old at $72.22 (was $89). That seems like an odd price, but with the members' 10% discount it's a nice, clean $65.
Which also fits in with our 65th anniversary celebrations.
