A limited edition release from Victoria's Bakery Hill distillery, which has been matured in ex-stout casks.
The whisky was distilled in 2013 and spent six years in an ex-bourbon cask before it was transferred into a barrel used by Hop Nation to mature their Kalash Russian Imperial Stout. That cask had, in fact, spent over ten year maturing Bakery Hill peated whisky until it was gifted to Hop Nation.
A rich example of the distillery - which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2020 - the imperial stout casks seems to have given this layers of honey and caramel.
Nose: Coffee, Cashew nuts, sugarcane, apple pie, citrus, pine.
Palate: Honey, breadcrumbs, orange, lavender, mussels, stout, caramel.
Finish: Long and lengthy, sweet and savoury, beautiful soft mouthfeel.
