The long-anticipated release of red gum-matured whisky from Yackandandah's Backwoods distillery, this is the single malt expression.
This was distilled from three types of malted barley and matured in the uniquely Australian cask.
Founders Leigh and Bree Attwood commissioned their cooper to craft the two 100 litre barrels in 2018, one for rye and one for single malt.
Bottled at 48%, there are 150 bottles drawn from cask #21.
Backwoods distillery in Yackandandah was founded in 2017 with the view to creating spirits that speak to the climate and flavours of the Victorian high country. They source their local grains from Voyager in the Riverina region and double distill through a 1,250 litre still built by Burns Welding in Griffith.
