An extremely tasty gin from Sydney distillery Archie Rose, bottled at 'Distiller's Strength' 52.4%.
A new release for September 2016, this is quite a big variation on their Classic Dry. There are 15 individually distilled botanicals in this, including pears from Orange in greater wetsern NSW, rose petals, elderflower and distilled honey (the honey comes from their rooftop beehives).
Located just ten minutes from the Sydney CBD in Rosebery, Archie Rose is one of the country's leading urban distilleries. Their gin has been their trademark expression while they wait for their whiskies and rums to mature.
They also have a vodka and 'white rye' un-aged spirit.
Tasting Notes by The Oak Barrel:
Juniper-forward and very floral on the nose, almost English garden-esque. There is an intensity coming from the high ABV, but it's not overpowering. Hint of citrus on the nose, but much less than the Classic.
The palate is clean, with rose, wattle and elderflower keeping that floral theme alive. Creamy and rounded, sweet and quite complex. A fair dollop of honey towards the finish as well - with just a hint of spice.
